Amjad Sabir is a music teacher (vocal & instrumental) He was born in Pakistan. He has learnt Harmonium from his father who was the disciple of Talvandi Gharana. He has studied Tabla with Ustad Talib Hussain Khan. He migrated to Canada in 1993 and Manitoba (Canada) has become his home and stage and showcase for his talents. Best known as a vocalist in Winnipeg. At present, he is teaching at the India School of Dance, Music & Theatre and University of Manitoba, School of Music, Division of Preparatory Studies, Canada. He has produced DVD's (Learn Tabla & Harmonium at Home) to share his experience. These dvd's are ideal for children. Performances 2005 Quance Theatre, University of Saskatoon, Canada. 2004 CBC Radio Programme (Art Encounters). 2004 Tsunami Flood Relief concert arranged by CBC Radio. 2001 Cultural Fusion Incubrator Project with Winnipeg Folk Festival, Canada. 1999 East Indian Cultural Show, Association of Pakistan Canadians. 1998 Winnipeg Art Gallery, arranged by Manitoba Arya Samaj Incorporation. 1997 Arranged a Flood relief concert at Eva Clare Hall, University of Manitoba, Canada. 1997 Performed for the National Canadian Council for Refugees Conference. 1996 Performed for Discrimination and Harassment Awareness Day at the University of Manitoba, Canada. 1995 Bhajan (devotional songs) performance for the Manitoba Hindu Dharmic Sabah Youths. |
